Datinder Banwait

Dr. Datinder Banwait is a respected chiropractor with over 22 years of experience serving the Surrey and Delta communities. She is fluent in Punjabi and is committed to providing personalized care to her patients. Dr. Banwait obtained her doctorate in chiropractic from Western States Chiropractic College, graduating with honors. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Simon Fraser University.

At Primary Rehab Clinic, Dr. Banwait employs a comprehensive approach to help patients achieve their optimal health goals. She utilizes various treatment modalities, including physical therapy, rehabilitative exercises, soft tissue treatment, and chiropractic adjustments. Her expertise extends to treating individuals who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents (ICBC) or workplace incidents (WCB), as well as those seeking to maintain their current lifestyle.

Dr. Banwait is a mother of two boys and has a dog named Kobi. She spends her free time volunteering at the local schools, teaching, playing golf and reading.

Arminder Sidhu

Arminder Sidhu is a dedicated Registered Massage Therapist who has been serving the Surrey, BC community for over 20 years. He graduated from Queen Elizabeth Secondary and pursued his passion for massage therapy by completing his studies at West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1997. Arminder established his own practice on Scott Road in 2001 and is an esteemed member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of BC (RMTBC), maintaining a good standing with the College of Massage Therapists.

With a background in various team sports such as basketball, football, golf, and track & field, Arminder possesses a profound understanding of kinesiology and biomechanics. Over the years, he has accumulated extensive expertise in rehabilitating injuries resulting from auto accidents, as well as work and sports-related incidents.

In addition to his professional commitments, Arminder finds joy in giving back to the community through volunteering and coaching sports. He also cherishes spending time outdoors with his two active teenage sons. Arminder’s dedication to his clients and his commitment to promoting well-being make him a trusted and respected practitioner in Surrey.

Devon San

Devon San, a Registered Massage Therapist graduated from the Langara RMT program in 2021. He is a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia (RMTBC) and is registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC.)  He also holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley. After practicing as a Registered Kinesiologist for a few years he decided to go back to school and become an RMT.

Growing up in Surrey, Devon played a variety of sports during his childhood and younger adult years including soccer, hockey, football, golf, and numerous others. It was the love of sport that got Devon interested in the field of kinesiology initially.

Educating his patients is what Devon enjoys most about being an RMT. The chance to teach someone in pain why they may be in pain and how they can help themselves is what he looks forward to every day he goes to work.

Janson Lai

Janson Lai, a second-generation traditional Chinese medical practitioner, grew up in Taiwan, where he was immersed in the ancient healing practices from a young age. Inspired by his father’s work, Janson developed a deep appreciation for traditional Chinese medicine.

In 2003, Janson obtained his diploma as a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has since become a licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. While primarily practicing in Canada, he has continued his education in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States, expanding his knowledge and honing his skills.

Janson has achieved remarkable success in treating a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, mental-emotional issues, internal diseases, and reproductive problems. He firmly believes that optimal health is achieved through balance, both in one’s life and within the body. Collaboration with other practitioners is essential to developing customized treatment plans for his patients.

Fluent in Mandarin and with a working knowledge of Cantonese, Janson effectively communicates with his patients. His dedication to traditional Chinese medicine and his commitment to holistic well-being make him a valued practitioner in promoting health and wellness.

Parveen

Parveen Virk is a dedicated and qualified Kinesiologist who recently graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She is a certified member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and possesses a diverse skill set in areas such as kinanthropometry, functional anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, injury prevention, and nutrition. Parveen has also obtained certifications in BC Sports Aid, Canadian Fitness Education Services, and RAD Mobility Level 1: Self-Myofascial Release.

During her academic journey, Parveen pursued an Active Health and Rehabilitation concentration, focusing on fitness appraisal, clinical kinesiology, and exercise rehabilitation. She developed a keen interest in musculoskeletal disorders and chronic pain management, aiming to support her clients in their recovery and overall well-being.

As an evidence-based practitioner, Parveen applies her expertise in exercise science to optimize the health and performance of her clients. Through thorough functional assessments, she creates individualized treatment plans that target flexibility, mobility, and strength improvement. Parveen’s ultimate goal is to assist her clients in recovering from injuries and achieving their wellness objectives.

Parveen’s scope of practice covers a wide range of conditions, and she offers an active rehabilitation program that takes a holistic approach to address the whole body. Tailored to each individual’s specific needs, the program includes stretching and strengthening components. Parveen is experienced in working with ICBC cases and will communicate with the respective case managers as necessary.

Utilizing a full gym facility, Parveen’s treatment and movement therapy work in synergy to enhance the healing process and promote overall wellness for both the body and mind.

Salma Furniturewala

Salma Furniturewala has a Master of Counseling Psychology- Art Therapy from Adler University. She currently works as a Family Counsellor in the Greater Vancouver area, where she is providing Individual Counseling and support to parents in order to help them find ways to meet the needs of their children.

Salma graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Mumbai University and later obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Many elements of her schooling relating to child development and psychology laid the foundation for her therapeutic work through art and play therapy. Salma’s approach to working with the Arts reflects her understanding that every person is unique and that expressive art therapy offers options for all.

Previously, Salma established and led a Nursery school, bringing together her expertise in the field of Early Childhood Education, as well as demonstrating the ability to build teams and foster collaborative relationships.

Outside of work, Salma enjoys volunteering at The Gathering Place, a community centre that provides necessary services to the less fortunate. Salma takes delight in cooking and has led culinary classes for the youth to engage in healthy food and eating habits, under the banner of ‘YOUNG CHEFS’. Salma lives in Burnaby with her husband and two daughters and is happiest when cooking, doing mindful yoga, or relaxing with friends and family.

Kurina Plaha

Hello and welcome! My name is Kurina (she/her), a Registered Professional Counsellor Candidate (RPC-c) with the CPCA.

In my practice, I enjoy working with children & youth but also offer my services to adults. I incorporate diverse therapeutic modalities, including Play therapy, Art therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy, and Gestalt therapy.
